Qualification Description

Enteral Feeding Management

The Enteral Feeding Management (Non Accredited) course is designed to equip support workers with the knowledge and confidence to safely assist individuals who require enteral feeding support (such as PEG and NG feeds) under supervision.

This course focuses on safe practice, infection control, monitoring, documentation, and recognising risks and complications when supporting people with disability who receive enteral nutrition. It supports workers to follow care plans, organisational policies, and delegated instructions from qualified health professionals.

This course is non accredited and does not permit independent clinical decision making or replacement of nursing duties.

Course Content

You will cover the following elements: Identifying manual tasks involving risk, Preparing for manual tasks, Completing manual tasks and Contributing to safe work practices.

  • Minimum age : 18 years
  • Basic English literacy and communication skills
  • Working or intending to work in disability or aged care settings

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Attendance from Bright Lilly College.
This certificate does not replace nationally recognised training or clinical qualifications..

This course is suitable for:

  • Disability Support Workers
  • Support workers assisting clients with PEG or enteral feeding
  • Workers in Supported Independent Living (SIL), respite, or community settings
  • New entrants to the disability sector working under supervision

  • Assist with enteral feeding safely under supervision
  • Follow individualised care plans and organisational policies

  • Document care accurately and professionally

  • Basics of enteral feeding and nutrition
  • Types of enteral feeding (PEG, PEJ, NG – awareness level)
  • Roles, responsibilities, and scope of practice
  • Consent, dignity, and participant rights
  • Reading and following enteral feeding care plans
  • Safe preparation and administration of feeds (assisting role)
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Equipment care and basic troubleshooting (non clinical)
  • Positioning and aspiration risk reduction
  • Monitoring tolerance and recognising complications
  • Documentation and incident reporting
  • When and how to escalate concerns to nurses or supervisors

Cancellations and Refunds

  • Cancellations made 7 days or more before the course date may be eligible for a refund or transfer.
  • Cancellations made less than 7 days before the course are non refundable.
  • Non attendance on the day will result in forfeiture of fees.
  • In exceptional circumstances, Bright Lilly College may consider credit or transfer at its discretion.

Course Changes

  • Bright Lilly College reserves the right to reschedule or cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances or low enrolments.
  • If a course is cancelled by Bright Lilly College, participants will be offered a full refund or transfer to another date.

Attendance and Participation

  • Full attendance and active participation are required to receive a Certificate of Attendance.
  • Late arrivals or early departures may impact certification.

Non Accredited Training Disclaimer

  • This course is non accredited and does not lead to a nationally recognised qualification or unit of competency.
  • Completion does not authorise participants to administer medication independently.
  • Participants must always work under organisational policies, delegation, and supervision.

Workplace Responsibility

  • It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure workers are competent, supervised, and working within their scope of practice.
  • Bright Lilly College is not responsible for workplace decisions related to medication delegation.

Health and Safety

  • Participants must comply with all health and safety instructions during training.
  • Any health conditions that may affect participation should be disclosed prior to training.
Privacy

  • Personal information is collected and stored in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
  • Information will only be used for training and administrative purposes.

Code of Conduct

  • Participants are expected to behave respectfully and professionally.
  • Bright Lilly College reserves the right to remove participants for inappropriate behaviour without refund.
