1. Someone who has had the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training before.
2. Demonstrate physical ability to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor, to meet the performance criteria for assessment.

Written, practical and scenario-based assessment.

1. Recognise and assess an emergency.
2. Ensure safety for self, bystanders, and casualty.
3. Assess the casualty and recognise the need for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
4. Seek assistance from emergency services.
5. Perform CPR in accordance with the ARC guidelines.
6. Display respectful behaviour towards casualty.
7. Operate an automated external defibrillator (AED) according to manufacturers' instructions.
8. Accurately convey incident details to emergency services.
9. Report details of incident in line with appropriate workplace or site procedures.
10. Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information in line with statutory or organisational policies.
11. Recognise the possible psychological impacts on self and other rescuers and seek help when required.
12. Contribute to a review of the first aid response as required.

12 months from date of course completion. Annual renewal of CPR certification is recommended.
